Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene to promote comfort and independence.
  • Support patient observation by monitoring health status, recognizing changes, and reporting concerns to healthcare professionals promptly.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences.
  • Facilitate safe patient transfers using appropriate methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques while ensuring resident safety.
  • Maintain accurate care plans, document vital signs, medication administration, and other health-related information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities to enhance mental and emotional well-being.
  • Assist with transportation for appointments or outings, ensuring safe and timely arrival while supporting mobility needs.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform patient monitoring, observe changes in condition, and respond appropriately.
  • Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders supports effective resident engagement.
  • Experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other manual handling techniques is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with medication administration, care plans, vital signs measurement, CPR/First Aid certification is essential.
  • Background working with individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities enhances your ability to provide tailored support.
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams are necessary to succeed in this role.
