Urban Recovery is a first-class treatment center offering top level medical care and evidence based clinical care for individuals suffering from substance use disorder.

TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Creating and implementing a weekly recreation schedule for rehab/detox patients that utilizes a variety of physical, creative, recreational, social, and entertainment based activities, including but not limited to: Yoga, Visual Art, Story Telling, Physical exercise, Competitive Games/Sports, Music, Card/Board Games, and Watching Sports/Films.

·        Developing and facilitating weekly therapeutic theater/filmmaking groups to encourage creative therapeutic expression and work towards a culmination of a filmed project.

·        Developing and implementing group therapy curricula for detox and rehab patients using evidence based practices to be used by ALL clinical staff on the following group topics: Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, CBT in Recovery, Seeking Safety, Meditation and Mindfulness, and Chemical Dependence and Relationships and more as needed by OASAS regulations. Additionally, Creative Director will be responsible for finding/creating multimedia resources (worksheets, readings/articles, videos, etc.) to accompany group curriculum as well as training clinical staff on utilizing/accessing group curriculum.

·        Responsible for implementing any necessary changes to weekly group therapy schedule and developing a monthly recreation/events calendar and coordinating needs with the clinical supervisor.

·        Facilitating a minimum of one group therapy session per day and one recreation group per day as needed.

·        Developing, Coordinating and Implementing Bimonthly events (at each site), including but not limited to Open Mic/Talent Shows, Field Day events, Alumni Gatherings, Special Performances (recovery comedians/speakers, visiting performers, etc.).

·        Improving our physical space by utilizing patient participation in creating murals and art displays for walls in clinical areas, and a garden area on the roof.

·        Timely documentation of patient participation in all group/recreational activities.

Creates weekly/bimonthly order requests for all materials needed for group/recreations/events.

·        Manages basic monthly budget for groups, event, and recreation planning.

·        Coordinates Training Calendar for employees.

·        Provides individual treatment to clients referred by counselors weekly as needed.

·        Coordinating Intern Events with recreation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelor's degree

·       Master’s degree as Creative Arts Therapist or Certified Recreation Counselor

·       Current State of NY license or Permit

·       Knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment

·       Three years of experience working in the substance abuse treatment
